Postmodern Sideshow is under reconstruction
February 12th, 2009
The real way a professional organization changes their website is as follows:
- Set up seperate server
- Set up new website on server
- Make all painstaking changes on separate server until complete.
- Point URL to new server
This is what we did:
- Backup old server.
- Delete old server.
- Try something that you know can’t be installed in less than a day.
- Go to work. Dodge Layoffs.
- Slowly tinker with setup, only to realize it’s a monstrosity.
- Try some other service
- Repeat until satisfied.
I’m a little confused as to why someone as pragmatic as myself went about platform changes so haphazardly. Regardless. Change is here. The website should be back up and running in…oh I don’t know, a month or so.
