Fieldtrip Xanadu On Broadway In Chicago

The Postmodern Sideshow is going on a fieldtrip to Xanadu on Broadway – In Chicago.

Sunday March 29th at 2 pm at Chicago’s Watertower Place Drury Lane Theater.

Drop us a line if you want to meet up before the show for some beergeritas and tatertot casserole.

The tickets are going fast and the show is gone at the end of March.

You can get cheap tickets if you want to sit on stage. You will literally have hot disco babes rolling around and sitting next to you.

For those who are unaware, Xanadu On Broadway is the latest in a string of broadway musical remakes of movies. I normally shun these, except Xanadu is such a great nonsensical movie with really amazing late 70s disco inspired pop music. Yes, it’s incredibly gay. There’s a pegasus that they ride through the clouds during one of the musical numbers. You will get beat up if anyone finds out that you went to this show.

My favorite moment from the movie that isn’t done justice in the play is the scene where Gene Kelly, Olivia Newton John, and the hero from The Warriors merge music from the forties with music from the eighties. Think wartime radio babes mixed with electric orange leopard print spandex and you have a good idea of what I’m talking about. Actually, it’s one of my favorite cinematic moments of all time.

Preview (yes, it’s that awesome):
