It's a charming website with a modest collection of beard types committed to photo.

Grandaddy's "The Sophtware Slump" captures them at their height.

The title plays on "the sophmore slump", implying that the second work of a band is doomed to repetition and mediocrity. The album does nothing of the sort and blasts us with an amazing irony.

I don't know of another album of indie rock that so acurately captures the human expressions of tragedy, loss, and regret. Songs about androids that fall apart, looking into the past with a giant telescope in the sky, and a laundromat in the forest litter this album, creating miniature scenes of torment.

The vocals are soulful, the synths are amazing. This will be an album that survives the decade.

Who would like this album: Humans.

Who would hate this album: Anyone who stopped listening to new music after the Beatles.

Web: Web Calculator Print Email

Have you ever wanted to calculate the thickness of copper you would need for a 20 mil wide trace that's 171.3 mills long to conduct 1.78 amps at less than 0.05 ohms?

Have you ever wanted to know how many times you can grift a white person from a Cleveland suburb? It's all here at the calculator edge. Punch those virtual buttons.

Toys: Secret Store Print Email

Suckadellic has a secret store where you can get some custom Indiana Jones Toys. Grab them while you can. I like how they made a production run the exact size they can sell out before the rights owners can send a cease and desist.

There's a Bobba Fett Indy combination.

El-P's "Fantastic Damage" comes to us from another world and graces us for an hour.

His production values are top notch, layering sick rhythms, and textured sound. The haunting horns sound so ominous while the sample plays "you're not promised tomorrow". El-p sings tough without sounding like the clown that DMX gives us.

Any fan of hiphop will eat this album up, and listen to it constantly.

Who would like this album: Those who wonder why 50 cent gets played on the radio.

Who would hate this album: Emo kids.

Food: The Quick Meal Print Email

The Daily WTF has a good dramatization of "The Quick Meal". It's a dollar store monstrosity, being equally poison for your body in ample amounts, and a disgusting punishment for your tongue. Enjoy.

This story is inspired by a day of shell scripting that I had to do in order to search through source code I couldn't access directly, hence couldn't run through an IDE to cross-correlate function calls and their definition location.
